About us
Gnat's Landing was originally founded on Saint Simons Island, GA by Robert Boz Bostock in 1999. The goal was to create a place for beach goers to relax in a Flip-Flop Friendly environment and enjoy some good ole' American Fare. All these years later, nothing has changed! Our team is dedicated to serving up great food, in an amazing location, and helping you create unforgettable memories! So if you aren't afraid of having a good time, come on by and give us a try. The menu of daily specials, fresh seafood, salads, sandwiches, fried pickles, not to mention the $8,000 Margarita remain island traditions. Hope to see you soon!
Paul Redfern
Welcome to Redfern Village, once home to Redfern Airfield - St. Simons Island's very first airport. Named after legendary pilot Paul Redfern, this little village carries a big story. In 1927, Redfern launched his plane from nearby Sea Island beach, bound for Rio de Janeiro. He never arrived, and nearly a century later, his disappearance remains one of aviation's greatest mysteries.
While we can't solve the mystery, you've landed in a great place to find a good time. Wander the village, visit our local shops, grab a bite or a drink, and enjoy a little piece of island history. Thanks for stopping by, we hope your next adventure brings you back to see us again!
Robert 'Boz' Bostock
Robert 'Boz' Bostock was an island legend. With his twinkling eyes, quick wit, and trademark mischievous smile, he never met a stranger and was a friend to all. From his start as a schoolteacher moonlighting at some of the Island's most popular watering holes, to the opening of this iconic toy store, Father Goose, Boz always brought the fun.
While traveling the country selling his toys, Boz began collecting menus from restaurants everywhere he went. He wanted to open a place of his own that captured the true spirit of St. Simons Island.
That dream became a reality in 1999 when Gnat's Landing was born. More than 25 years later, Gnat's remains everything Boz imagined: good food, cold drinks, friendly faces, and a flip-flop-friendly atmosphere where everyone feels welcome. His spirit lives on in the friends, new and old, that walk through our doors each day.
We hope you'll kick back, relax and enjoy this special little slice of Island life.
